87 Minute documentary on Vietnam War. History of the conflict: WWII, the French defeat, and how Americans were lied into the conflict in the Gulf of Tonkin. Testimony from American soldiers and Vietnamese. Explores the policies that led our country to war in Indochina. An exploration of US mainstream media provides a contrast to the role of the media then and now. The Doctrine of Manifest Destiny appears to be very alive.

"Vietnam: American Holocaust" exposes one of the worst cases of sustained mass slaughter in history, planned and executed by presidents of both parties. Our generals and soldiers killed 5 million people using incendiary bombs. Vietnam has never left our national consciousness, and now it has more relevance than ever. Claiborne documents the White House fabrication of the Gulf of Tonkin Incident, and raises the question of whether JFK was assassinated to promote the Vietnam War. Research using declassified White House tapes and National Security documents documents the War. Martin Sheen, who played the leading role in Apocalypse Now almost 30 years ago, has lent his voice to this history of the War in Vietnam. Discussion following the film.
